Spend six summer days immersed in the beautiful countryside of Puglia, staying at a lovingly restored 17th-century masseria in the heart of the Itria Valley. With twice-daily yoga with Jess, delicious Italian food and plenty of time to relax by the pool or explore Puglia’s whitewashed hilltop towns and coastline, this is a wonderful place to slow down and settle into the rhythm of southern Italy.

About La Rosa

La Rosa dei 4 Venti is an ancient 17th-century masseria, lovingly restored as a calm and peaceful place to retreat. It lies in the heart of the Itria Valley, close to Martina Franca and many of the region’s beautiful whitewashed towns and villages.

The retreat is immersed in peaceful countryside, surrounded by oak forests and Mediterranean scrub, orchards, olive groves and vineyards. The countryside around Martina Franca is dotted with characteristic trulli, with the green of the olive trees and vineyards contrasting with white stone and the region’s deep red earth.

From here you can also head down to the coast, with both the Adriatic and Ionian Seas within reach, from small coves and rocky inlets to long stretches of sandy beach.

Retreat programme

There will be a yoga class each morning and evening in the beautifully restored stone barn yoga space, a bright and spacious room with natural wood flooring and a vaulted stone ceiling, fully equipped with mats and props.

Each day will begin with a morning class of meditation and a flowing asana practice to gently open the body and attune the mind to the breath. The afternoon class will be more restorative, with time to delve deeper into the postures. The classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience. There will be one yoga free afternoon and no yoga on travel days.

Things to do

Puglia is an enchanting region of southern Italy, with historic towns to explore, beautiful countryside for walking and a wonderful coastline stretching between the Adriatic and Ionian Seas.

Between classes there will be plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. Relax by the pool, book a massage or take a walk through La Rosa’s private woodland of ancient oaks, home to two beautiful donkeys.

Or head out for the day to explore Alberobello, Locorotondo, Martina Franca or Cisternino, or discover the beaches and coastal towns of this beautiful corner of Puglia.

Accommodation & food

The bedrooms at La Rosa are split between charming trulli rooms, set within the traditional cone-shaped stone buildings characteristic of this part of Puglia, and spacious rooms in the main house and close to the yoga shala. Each is individual in character and has an en-suite bathroom.

Delicious, healthy brunch and dinner will be served each day, using local produce and taking inspiration from traditional Italian and Puglian cooking. The meals are mainly vegetarian, although some fish and meat may be offered with the evening meal. Teas and fruit will be available throughout the day.

Our retreat in Puglia was absolutely amazing. La Rosa dei 4 Venti was stunning - the team were minutely attentive to everyone's needs, the rooms were beautiful & spacious, the shala offered a gorgeous space to practise in, the grounds enabled us to feel at one with nature and the food was phenomenal.

I went on a YOAS retreat to Puglia and it was an amazing experience! The booking and organisation process was straightforward with excellent communication from YOAS. The retreat venue was secluded and beautiful with lovely freshly made vegetarian food everyday. We were able to organise excursions and visited lots of great local towns and beaches. I absolutely loved every single yoga class. I can’t wait to go on another YOAS retreat!
