Escape to the beautiful West Dorset countryside for a long weekend of yoga, good food and time to slow down. Just two miles from the coast, Bonhays is a peaceful and secluded eco-retreat, surrounded by rolling hills and within easy reach of the beaches and coastal paths around Lyme Regis and Bridport.

With twice-daily yoga and meditation with Raquel, delicious vegetarian food, an indoor pool and plenty of time to walk, swim or simply relax, this is a wonderfully restorative summer weekend by the sea.

About Bonhays

Bonhays is a beautiful eco-retreat centre, nestled in the hills of West Dorset, between Bridport and Lyme Regis and just two miles from the sea. The setting is secluded and peaceful, surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Set around a central courtyard with the soft curves of the straw buildings and the hills beyond, there is quiet and stillness here. Bonhays has lovely communal areas to relax and chat in as well as many peaceful and secluded spots for quiet and reflection. There is also an indoor heated swimming pool.

The coast and beaches are just two miles away for sea air and beautiful walks. Or simply stay at Bonhays: watch the sunset from the decking, swim in the pool, share wonderful meals in the conservatory and enjoy the space to practise yoga, rest and rejuvenate.

Retreat programme

There will be a yoga class with Raquel on Thursday evening followed by dinner. On the following days there will be two yoga classes, one in the morning and one in the late afternoon, which will include meditation and breathwork. Each night after dinner there will be an activity such as candle gazing, watching the sunset or yoga nidra.

There will also be plenty of time each day to walk, rest, relax or take a dip in the pool or even the sea. There will be a yoga class on Sunday morning before brunch and goodbyes.

Things to do

There will be plenty of free time between yoga classes to simply relax at Bonhays, take a swim in the heated indoor pool or head out and explore this beautiful corner of West Dorset.

The coast is just two miles away, with wonderful walks along the Jurassic Coast and South West Coast Path. Nearby Bridport is a lively market town with independent shops, cafés and restaurants, while West Bay is a lovely spot for a walk along the beach or around the harbour.

You could also venture a little further to Lyme Regis, explore the surrounding countryside or book a massage at Bonhays. Or simply stay put, find a peaceful spot in the garden and enjoy having nowhere else to be.

Accommodation & food

Single, shared twin or double rooms are available. Bathrooms and toilet facilities are shared.

There is also a charming shepherd's hut set in a quiet corner looking up the Marshwood Valley. The hut has a double bed, electricity, a wood burner and is fully insulated. The hut has an outside tap and access to shared bathroom facilities close by.

The chef at Bonhays sources local ingredients to create healthy and delicious vegetarian lunches and dinners. Supplies are provided for breakfast, which is prepared by the group.

Client Reviews

This was exactly what I wanted. Yoga in a peaceful setting; time to read and relax between classes; wonderful food. Raquel's immense experience and understanding of not just the physical side of yoga but also the philosophical side made it a very rich experience.
Rosie
This was an amazing experience - deeply affecting and Raquel made the whole experience rich, varied and inspiring. An excellent few days on a calm and lovely place, great company, superb food and calm atmosphere that stretched body and mind.
Olivia
I had a wonderful time. This was my 3rd year in a row at Bonhays and 2nd with Raquel and it's fast turning into a tradition. For me the accommodation and beautiful garden setting combined with proximity to the beach, quality of teaching (Raquel is brilliant) and affordability makes this the only retreat I'm interested in.
