About Douar Noujoum
Douar Noujoum is an oasis of peace set in Essaouira, a bohemian haven on the coast of Morocco. Located just 7km from the sweeping sandy beaches and 15km from the historical walled Medina with views of the ocean.
At the heart of the property a cascade of pure water feeds the natural swimming pool surrounded by peaceful gardens filled with colourful dragonflies, butterflies and peacocks that roam freely. Douar Noujoum has been created as a place dedicated to wellbeing and you can feel the calm energy from the moment you arrive.
Tigmi, situated 24km south of Marrakech, is set within a magical desert landscape on the brow of the Berber hamlet of Tagadert.
As with many North African dwellings, as you step inside the peaceful beauty of Tigmi is revealed. The first impression is of a lovely garden laid to lawns and paths, with palms, citrus and olive trees and a swimming pool with soft, jade-coloured water. The scents and colours of orange blossom and roses assail the senses. Many tortoises live in this garden, adding to the unhurried feel of this tranquil oasis.
The first three nights will be spent at Douar Noujoum, where there will be yoga classes each morning and evening in the light and airy practice room with wooden floors and a terrace with views of the countryside.
Each morning will begin with a yoga class which will include meditation and movement focused on asanas, attuning the mind to the breath. The evening class will be more gentle and restorative. Classes will be progressive and inclusive for all levels.
The last four nights will be at Tigmi where there will also be two yoga classes daily with two yoga free half days. Tigmi has two yoga spaces. A covered roof terrace with stunning views of Marrakech across the plains and a charming indoor room that is light and airy with a log burner for cooler days.
There will be two yoga free half days and no yoga on travel days.
Things to do
Whilst staying at Douar Noujoum you can simply relax in peaceful nature by the pool or you can explore the cultural delights of Essaouira. The historical walled Medina with views of the ocean, the colourful souks, the buskers in the main square, the traditional fishing port with the famous blue boats. Nature lovers can explore the long sweeping sandy beaches on foot, horse back or ride a camel.
During your stay at Tigmi, days can be spent lazing Moroccan style with a mint tea in one of the many gardens and courtyards. Outside of Tigmi, cultural treats are plentiful with museums, gardens, the famous square Jemaa el Fna and the vibrant souks in the Medina of Marrakech.
Douar Noujoum and Tigmi both have spas with traditional hammams and local therapists offering treatments.

Raquel is a kind, wise and generous teacher and we felt very blessed to have her take us through the week. The hotel is a gorgeous sanctuary, whether sunbathing under a clear blue sky during the day or huddling by the fires in our rooms at night. We had hammams, massages and pedicures at the hotel, a walk in the Atlas mountains and a day trip to Marrakesh. We came away fit, healthy, relaxed and ready for the year.Claire
The retreat was fabulous. The 2 locations are just perfect, with lovely rooms and general facilities. The yoga spaces at both venues were lovely and it was a real privilege to be able to do yoga with those stunning views.Jenny
I have returned home fantastically rested and rejuvenated after a wonderful week at beautiful Tigmi. Tigmi is a very special place, beautiful environment and such friendly and kind staff. The yoga was wonderful, with inspirational and varied classes. Particularly loved the classes held on the yoga terrace. Raquel is a gifted and inspirational teacher. We have been delighted with our experience of Yoga on a Shoestring and would certainly choose to holiday with you again.Lucy
