Holiday Expired

A special opportunity to delve deeper into your practise on a remote retreat in an environment close to nature where you can fully detach, unwind, find resource and new energy.

We are delighted to offer our own programme alongside the optional sessions on offer from the Finca Argayall community.

This retreat offers eight days of immersive practise from Monday to Monday, with arrival and departure a day or two before or after. Allowing for a smoother start and end and time to settle into community life.

About Finca Argayall

Finca Argayall is one of the best kept secrets of the Canary Islands. This magical venue on the unspoilt island of La Gomera, sits nestled in the cliffs in a secluded bay. With a spectacularly diverse landscape. The contrast of the rainforest, unspoilt beaches and small fishing towns makes a visit to this island a full and rich experience.

The venue itself runs as a community and welcomes others to experience and respect this beautiful and unique life. There is an organic farm, tropical gardens, a natural spring, two swimming pools and the beach a few steps away.

With access only by sea, following a rockfall on the access road last year, the Finca is the perfect setting for a remote retreat, where you can fully connect with nature.

The daily programme

This eight day intensive retreat offers our own programme alongside optional offerings from the Finca community each morning before breakfast and later in the afternoon. The optional sessions on offer will include a variety of meditations, movement, dance and yoga. Or you can simply take this time to rest.

Kate will offer a mid morning class each day to gently open the body and attune the mind to the breath. The class will slowly move and build into a flowing and dynamic sequence, incorporating the cultivation of awareness, physical alignment, breath and the chakras (energy centres). As this is a two hour class, there will be time to practice variations, develop stamina, restore and revitalise. This class will be followed by lunch and time to relax.

The late afternoon sessions with Kate will further explore both the chakra and the elemental systems, through the practices of yin yoga, freeing movement, sound healing, mantra, meditation and more. These creative sessions aim to take us deeper into our hearts, our inner guidance and a sense of Oneness.

Throughout the retreat there will be two yoga free half days to allow time to take a trip or rest and restore.

Arrival to the Finca will be over the weekend on 23 or 24 April with the retreat beginning on the morning of 25 April. Departure will be on 3 or 4 May with the retreat drawing to a close on the evening of 2 May.

The retreat cost includes 8 nights stay from Monday 25 April to Tuesday 3 May. The nights before and after the retreat will be an additional cost and can be arranged through YOAS.

Things to do

Throughout each day you will be offered three organic vegetarian meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There will be two yoga classes with Kate each day alongside other optional sessions offered by the Finca community. Between classes days can be spent relaxing by one of the two pools or simply take a few steps onto the beach and go for a swim in the warm, blue sea. Guided hikes, dolphin/whale watching trips and treatments such as massage and homeopathy are also available at an additional cost.

A wonderful opportunity to take some luxurious time for yourself, to restore and nourish mind, body and soul in the truly healing environment of La Finca.

Accommodation

There is a selection of uniquely designed rooms. The terrace rooms with a garden view are quiet, comfortable and prettily decorated with a shared shady veranda that overlooks the tropical gardens. Bathroom facilities are close-by and shared.

The charming and comfortable garden huts are spacious and airy with a private seated area outside. They are set in the lush green gardens with the serene sounds of bird song and the sea.

The pyramid and A-frame are both well furnished little houses with a double bed in this paradise garden with a sitting space outside. The pyramid is ideal for a couple sharing and the A-frame is perfect for single occupancy. All garden accommodation has plentiful shared bathroom facilities close by.

The terrace rooms with a sea view have doors that open out onto a second shared veranda with stunning ocean views. These rooms have en suite bathroom facilities.

The studio apartments are set slightly away from the main area of the Finca with a private pool shared between three apartments. There are a very limited number of rooms for single occupancy.

Client Reviews

I had a truly blissful time in La Gomera, it's such a beautiful, elemental environment to come back to yourself in.
Sally
This was my second year at La Finca on La Gomera and it was just as fabulous as the first. Kate is a brilliant teacher, explaining postures really well and always coming up with alternatives for anyone who has any difficulties. The setting couldn't be more beautiful or relaxing. The food is incredible, really mouth-watering, and all freshly cooked and super healthy (well apart from the chocolate puddings!)
Fiona
I had a fantastic time. Kate is an amazing teacher, the others on the course were lovely and the setting was perfect!
Lois
That was a beautiful holiday - what made it so special was the mix of people, they were such a lovely bunch and we all got along famously. It was a very happy week and La Gomera is absolutely stunning. I loved it! Thank you also for your organising, always spot on.
Helen
I had the most wonderful time away. Thank you! Everything was perfect - the pre-travel organisation was spot-on and made things really straightforward. The Finca was really special. It’s almost hard to describe the magic of the place.

I had a wonderful week at La Gomera and I want to thank you for arranging it. The special thing about practicing yoga with Kate is that she adds chanting, singing, affirmations and spiritual well-being to the asanas. Since coming home I can tell how much good two practices a day have done me. I feel stronger, more energised and more flexible.

La Gomera - YOAS Yoga Retreats

Loosening up on a commune with YOAS on La Gomera, The Canary Islands.

The Global Retreat Company, April 2018

Sharon Walker reviews the enriching yoga holiday at Finca Argayall on La Gomera in The Canary Island and finds an experimental community, a chef to fall in love with and wondrous yoga with the Sparkly Lisa Powell.

It takes a bit of effort to get yourself to the YOAS venue on La Gomera. A flight. A taxi. A boat. Another taxi. So a journey, but worth it. I’ve never much fancied the Canary Islands before, too many Brits for my liking, but Finca Argayall is a million light years from the burnt beer bellies and crowded concrete of South Tenerife; a secluded palmed oasis cradled between soaring volcanic cliff and the inky Atlantic, at the end of a dirt track. It’s a unique spot and a unique set up.

It is best to arrive before midday on 23 or 24 April if possible to take the afternoon ferry across to La Gomera. From the airport you will take a taxi to Los Cristianos ferry port, a 15 minute journey. From here you will take a ferry to the island of La Gomera. The ferry takes about 45 minutes and costs between 30 - 40 euros:

From San Sebastian the group can take a taxi together direct to Valle Gran Rey, the town close to the Finca, or alternatively there is a bus. From Valle Gran Rey there will be a short transfer by private boat as road access has been blocked by a rockfall.

For the return on 3 or 4 May you will need to take an early evening flight. It is a little adventure to get to the Finca but really worth it for such a special place.
