About Vigla

The first thing to strike you about Vigla Village is its sublime location on the Ionian Coast of the Greek island of Kefalonia. It's a feast for the senses as you take in the intoxicating smell of the pine and eucalyptus trees and the crystal clear, deep blue of the Ionian sea. Coupled with the welcoming and open-hearted Greek hospitality of Anna, Angelos and Yannis, you cannot help but begin to relax as soon as you arrive.

Perched high on a clifftop, the clean and comfortable apartments with private balconies, overlook the inspiring panorama. Just a short stroll away you can take the picturesque cliff path down from Vigla to a small, quiet beach and the inviting sea.

Vigla Village simply blows you away; it's the sort of place that you want to come back to time after time.

Retreat programme

Each day will begin with yoga on the wonderful platform overlooking the endless blue ocean. Morning yoga to gently expand the body and breath, building into a flowing, dynamic sequence before returning to stillness.

Morning practice will be followed by a hearty breakfast. Then you will be free to head off down to the beach, relax by the pool or explore the stunning beauty of the surroundings.

The group will meet again in the late afternoon for a second more restorative class to delve deeper into the postures. The classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience. There will be one yoga free day during the week and no yoga on travel days.

As this week is early in the season, 5 dinners have been included at the local Isalos taverna, just a few minutes walk from Vigla. A traditional 2 course dinner with local wine. For lunch and dinner on 2 evenings people have the option to self cater or eat out at other local tavernas. Each apartment has a small kitchen and the local supermarket will deliver.

Things to do

One could quite easily while away a week of deep rest and rejuvenation here, enjoying the wonderful quiet beach and swimming pool. There's also plenty of space at Vigla Village to find a quiet spot in the shade of the trees enjoying the colours and fragrance of the beautiful flowers.

There's another pretty beach just a 10 minute walk away and the small centre of the village of Spartia, with a couple of shops and a restaurant, is a 30 minute walk away.

For those with an adventurous spirit you can hire a car to explore the outstanding beauty of this island. Caves, boat trips, snorkelling, fishing, trips to stunning local villages and a visit to Myrtos, known to be one of the world's most beautiful beaches, are amongst some of the many things on offer in Kefalonia.

Accommodation & food

Vigla Village offers self catering apartments which are clean, spacious with air conditioning and private balconies with sea views. All apartments have either one, two or three bedrooms, a bathroom, a small lounge area and kitchen facilities.

A healthy breakfast of local foods is offered each morning after yoga. A selection of cereals, greek yoghurt, fruit salad, eggs, tomatoes, and feta, bread, honey and tahini.

Client Reviews

It's my second retreat with Amy and I just loved every minute of it. I think Amy is an exceptional teacher and she just brings such a beautiful energy to the week. I was struggling with a knee energy and at every point she suggested alternatives for me. The yoga platform has the most incredible views and Anna and her team who run the facilities at Vigla Village are just the most amazing hosts. I will be returning to join Amy again
