Holiday ExpiredAbout the virtual retreat
As we take another pause from running in person retreats we wanted to offer some virtual retreats to nourish, energise and restore as winter draws in. These virtual retreats offer an opportunity to connect with our amazing YOAS teachers and the wider YOAS community. We can’t wait to see you (virtually) on the mat.
Following the overwhelming success of our spring and summer virtual retreats we have lined up four more of our wonderful teachers for an immersive day retreat as outlined below (on UK time):
8.30 - 9.30am - Meditation & Pranayama with Mona Lisa Godfrey
11 - 12.15 - Energising Flow with Tania Brown
3 - 4.15pm - Yin - Diving inwards with Sunita Devi
6 - 7pm - Yoga Nidra with Will Wheeler
Meditation & Pranayama with Mona: 8.30am - 9.30am
Meditation and Pranayama techniques can be hugely beneficial to anyone who takes the time to practice. When we use the tool of meditation and breath-work to expand our awareness within, we discover that bliss is our true nature – our very source of being!
This one hour introduction to meditation and pranayama class will begin with a 10 minute body warm up, designed to prepare and open the heart and mind for the experience of stillness. Once the body has been warmed, ample time will be dedicated to creating a proper environment for a successful practice. You’ll learn to find a truly appropriate seat for your body and together we’ll explore a few breathing techniques that clear and focus the mind.
The last 20-30 minutes will be spent in meditation. If you are new to the practice of meditation, please do not be intimidated by the duration. Be patient with yourself, come with an open heart and enthusiastic attitude – everything else will fall into place. Appropriate for all levels of meditation practice/experience.
Energising Flow with Tania: 11am - 12.15pm
Tania will guide you through a strong, soulful and deep dynamic vinyasa flow class. There will be a focus on alignment and emphasis placed on harmonising the movements of the body and the breath in creative sequences. Short meditations and breathing techniques will be included in a class open to all levels.
Tania's experienced teaching style will give options to suit all, allowing the YOAS community to energise and flow together – to breathe and enjoy!
Yin - Diving inwards with Sunita: 3pm - 4.15pm
In this practice we dive inwards and explore the stillness of Yin Yoga. This is where you will find your zen. In this practice we surrender into the poses and explore them for longer periods of time in order to let go of tensions stored in the body and to calm the nervous system. The longer holds allows us to target deeper connective tissues or fascia, restoring length and elasticity especially around the hips, pelvis and lower spine. This practice gives you the time and space to dive inwards and explore your inner landscape, leaving you feeling a little more balanced an nourished. Its what Sundays are made for! To add to the peace of the afternoon light a candle or two and we are ready for some serious ME time.
Yoga Nidra with Will: 6pm - 7pm
The day will close with a deeply healing and restful yoga nidra (yoga for sleep) meditation. Enjoy deep rest and relaxation with some of the healing benefits associated with yoga nidra. You will be guided by Will through a deeply relaxing meditation which will aid a good night's sleep! There will be an introduction to the method followed by a body scan working with a much quieter energy compared to the earlier energising class. A playlist will be provided to accompany the session. You will need to be warm for this, so have some blankets, cushions and warm socks/clothing to hand.
How it works
Please make a booking for the day retreat though our website. All classes will be live streamed through Zoom. If you don't already have it, download the Zoom app on your computer here: zoom.us/download or your phone (in the App Store or Google Play).
Once you have made a booking we will send further details and instructions on how to use Zoom a couple of days beforehand.
Links to access each class will be sent the night before the retreat. You will be able to join each class 5 minutes beforehand on the day.
You will need enough space to roll out your mat and to be able to stretch your arms above your head. If you have yoga props please have them to hand. Here are the things you will need:
- Yoga mat
- Blanket or meditation shawl
- Firm cushion or yoga block/brick to sit on
- A yoga belt - or a dressing gown cord works well
- Yoga bolster or a couple of pillows/cushions
- Warm layers & socks
We look forward to connecting with you all and practising together once again. Thank you for being part of our amazing community.
