About The Dell of Abernethy

The Dell of Abernethy sits within 3 peaceful acres of the ancient Abernethy Forest, nestled on the edge of the wilderness of the Cairngorms National Park in the Scottish Highlands.

The lodge and surrounding cottages offer charming, stylish and cosy accommodation, a riverside walk away from the village of Nethy Bridge and within easy reach of the town of Aviemore. The Dell is the perfect base for a peaceful and adventurous retreat in nature, exploring the mountains, lochs, rivers and wildlife of the Cairngorms and beyond.

Retreat programme

Each day will begin with a flowing asana class to align to body and breath in a beautiful light and airy Scandinavian Tipi under the pine trees and open to birdsong and the forest beyond.

After the morning class there will be a hearty breakfast before you head out to explore the surrounding area on foot, by mountain bike, take a dip or simply relax. There will be a delicious healthy light lunch and the group will meet again in the late afternoon for a more restorative practice to delve deeper into the postures. Evening practice will be followed by a nourishing dinner and fireside chats.

Arrival is from 4pm onwards on Monday 14 September and departure is by 10am on Friday 18 September.

Things to do

Between yoga classes in a magical woodland tipi there will be plenty of time to simply unwind, slow down, breathe deeply and connect with nature.

There will also be the opportunity to explore the Cairngorms wilderness on a guided hike or by mountain bike. For the brave there will be dips in the loch, a sure way to feel fully alive.

In the evenings there will be cosy gatherings around the woodland fire pit under the Caledonian pines or you can take time for yourself and find a quiet spot to curl up on a comfy sofa in the cottages in front of a log burner.

Accommodation & food

The Dell offers simple and stylish luxury with quirky vintage furnishings in a comfortable cottage setting. Between the lodge and adjoining cottages there are twin and double bed accommodation options, shared bathrooms, cosy living spaces with sofas, armchairs and wood burners and a communal dining space for group meals together.

One cottage is offered as a private space with a double bedroom, living space and kitchen.

All meals will be vegetarian, healthy and nourishing and prepared by a fabulous chef from the freshest local produce.

Client Reviews

The Dell is really special, beautifully done out with impeccable taste. If you also like walking or running, it has a very lovely trail from the house into the forest. Highly recommended! Nicola the amazing chef - her food was amazing and plentiful!
Emma
The venue, quality of Ro's yoga instruction and overall experience was second to none and I would definitely return in the future. The space where the yoga sessions took place was one of the best I have ever experienced and all my fellow yogis were wonderful.
Wanda
I thought the retreat was amazing! Beautiful setting, couldn't have asked for anything better. Food was great, the accommodation was so cosy and had everything I needed. I loved Ro's very balanced programme, the additional little things such as the incense, the music, the number of adaptations she offered, her flowing tone.
