About Yewfield

Yewfield is a luxurious and comfortable vegetarian B&B set in an idyllic location in the heart of the English Lake District. It is ideally situated for breathtaking walks and offers magnificent views of this exquisite region of rare natural beauty.

There are over 80 acres of land around the house, including native woodland, rough fell pasture, a small tarn and a stream. The grazed pasture is carefully managed giving priority to ecological considerations.

Retreat programme

There will be yoga classes each morning and evening in the light and airy yoga studio with garden views and a log burner.

Morning classes will offer meditation, pranayama and a flowing asana practice to strengthen and align the body. The evening classes will be somatic and restorative, working towards a greater depth of awareness and sense of inner peace. Across the weekend Elena will offer space for nourishing soundbaths and evening chanting too.

Each day after morning yoga and breakfast, there will be the opportunity to explore the area's many walks and breathtaking surroundings with a picnic lunch.

Arrival time on Thursday 18 April is from 3pm onwards. You can arrive earlier from 1pm if you want to explore the beautiful surroundings. The first yoga session will be at 5pm. The weekend will finish mid-morning on Sunday after yoga and breakfast.

Things to do

Yewfield is set in a quiet elevated position with panoramic views over the Vale of Esthwaite, Lake Windermere and the Fells beyond and just a short distance from Tarn Hows, a well known landmark in the Lake District.

Between yoga classes there will be time for you to explore the woodland, open fell and lakes that start right from the front door. Or you can curl up with a good book in the lounge, a quiet space to relax and enjoy the fine views in comfort.

Situated in over 30 acres of its own grounds, Yewfield is an impressive country house with Gothic architecture dating back to 1859.

Rooms are furnished to a high standard. Double and twin rooms at Yewfield are individually appointed to a very high standard, all with en-suite bathrooms, TV, radio and tea/coffee making facilities.

Had an absolutely amazing weekend. The location was beautiful, the food was perfect, Elena was a fantastic instructor. Couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere to meditate, relax and enjoy peace. Felt so happy the whole time I was there and I’ll definitely be rebooking next year.
We both had a lovely time in The Lakes and at the retreat. The yoga was great and Yewfield has fantastic walks nearby and is very peaceful.
Elena is a unique Yoga instructor. She exudes warmth and joy in her teaching with a variety of movements in the classes. Elena gave 100% to ensure that everyone in the group was happy and catered for. We had a lovely time.
