About Garth Barns

The perfect combination of beautiful location, great facilities and accessibility, set amidst the rolling hills of rural Wales. Garth Barns sits nestled in unspoiled and natural beauty in the countryside that surrounds the historic and pretty town of Llanidloes. A world away from it all, deep in the charm of rural Wales and yet easily accessed from London, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham.

The original farmhouse and two large barn conversions that house the yoga shala and all of the accommodation are heated from renewable biomass and the drinking water is from the farm’s own pure spring water source. The barns surround the old farmyard, now a lovely space with gardens, a stream and an outdoor dining area for warmer days. There is also a gym and Finnish sauna. For wild swimmers there is a swimming pond. The venue is set within 200 acres of farmland with plenty of walks in the hills and valleys right on the doorstep.

Retreat programme

There will be two yoga classes each day with Ash. Mornings will begin with a quiet meditation and gentle pranayama followed by an energising yoga asana practice. In the evenings there will be a shorter relaxing restorative yoga class to ease you into your evening. Ash will also offer optional workshops throughout the weekend.

Each day after morning yoga and breakfast there will be the opportunity to explore, take a dip in the wild swimming pool, have a sauna or simply relax.

Arrival time on Thursday 8 August is from 4pm onwards. The first yoga session will be at 5.30pm. The weekend will finish at 10am on Sunday 11 August, after breakfast.

Client Reviews

Fantastic retreat in Wales with Ash Bond. Felt much longer than a weekend, always a good sign. Great yoga, company, food, location! Highlight was swimming in a lake in the nearby nature reserve on the hottest of summer days. Happy memories!
Lotte
We had a great time on the bank holiday retreat. Ash is wonderful and a great teacher. Garth Barns was super, food delicious and the group very friendly.
Zoe
It was an all round marvellous weekend. Ash is warm, funny, very inclusive and invitational and the yoga practices were mindfully put together. Ash also offered additional workshops for people who were interested. The sun shone and Jane, Rowan and Tina looked after us all very well and cooked the most delicious food. The venue was in gorgeous surrounds, was warm and comfortable; altogether I am so happy I went.
