In the absence of being able to retreat to all our amazing locations around the world right now we wanted to bring you a virtual retreat to your own home. This is an opportunity to connect with our YOAS teachers and the wider YOAS community. We can’t wait to see you (virtually) on the mat.
We have lined up four of our wonderful teachers to offer four very different practices to strengthen the body, open the heart and calm the mind as outlined below (on UK time):
8am - 9am: Meditation and Pranayama with Lila Conway
11am -12.30pm: Yoga - Strength and Connection with Amy McDonald
4pm - 5.30pm: Yoga - Heart Opening Practice with Lisa Powell
8pm - 9.30pm: Yoga Nidra and Meditation with Jess Horn
Meditation & Pranayama with Lila: 8am - 9am
A beautiful hour of connection to the inner wisdom and joy of the heart. We will practice a gentle flow of heart-centred breathing exercises, guided meditation and some simple Sanskrit mantra chanting to step out of our busy minds and into our compassionate and loving heart.
Strength & Connection with Amy: 11am - 12.30pm
Amy will be teaching a 90 minute grounding Jivamukti yoga flow that will be a dynamic, breath lead vinyasa session layered with chanting, yogic teachings, beautiful music and more. This class will focus on strengthening body, mind and heart and exploring what connection really means within ourselves, the practices and with each other human to human, as a wider community and the world.
Heart Opening Practice with Lisa: 4pm - 5.30pm
Join Lisa and enter the 'Cave of the Heart'. When we are stressed or anxious these feelings rise like clouds to obscure the light of ease and peace within the heart. This practice will draw on asana, pranayama, mudra, mantra, reflection, guided relaxation and meditation to disperse the clouds and allow the light of the heart to shine freely.
Rest & Restore with Jess: 8pm - 9.30pm
Jess will lead you through a delicious deep 'Rest and Restore' session. We will move gently to arrive in the body, meditate together to calm the mind and give ourselves the gift of Time, Space and Stillness, allowing the benefits of the day to take root. We will end with a lovely nourishing Yoga Nidra to plant the seeds of our intentions.
How it works
Please make a booking for the day retreat though our website. All classes will be live streamed through Zoom. If you don't already have it, download the Zoom app on your computer here: zoom.us/download (choose 'Zoom Client for Meetings') or your phone (in the App Store or Google Play).
Once you have made a booking we will send instructions on how to use Zoom. On the day a link will be sent by email 15 minutes before each class.
You will need enough space to roll out your mat and to be able to stretch your arms above your head. If you have yoga props please have them to hand. Here are the things you will need:
- Yoga mat
- Blanket or meditation shawl
- Firm cushion or yoga block to sit on
- A yoga belt - or a dressing gown cord works well
- Yoga bolster or a couple of pillows
- Notepad and pen
