About the virtual retreat

In the absence of being able to retreat to all our amazing locations around the world right now we wanted to bring virtual retreats from our homes to yours. This is an opportunity to connect with our YOAS teachers and the wider YOAS community. We can’t wait to see you (virtually) on the mat.

Join us for a weekend of workshops to release tension, breathe deeply and take deep rest.

Giving the body, mind and emotions the experience of deep rest have a profound effect on how we breathe, sleep and feel. Even if we manage to get under the covers for 8 hours a night this doesn’t necessarily mean we are getting good sleep.

The retreat offers two long morning practices on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June to promote deep rest. Through breath work, mindful asana, meditation, mantra and yoga nidra plan a weekend to top up your tank with rest and relaxation. Dive into practices to aid better sleep and feel renewed.

Join Lisa Powell, Raquel Alves, Dory Walker and Belle Greenwood for 5 hours of yoga practices.

Classes will be 8am - 10-30 am (BST) on 27 & 28 June.
There will be a 5-10 minute break at approximately 9.15am

Saturday 27 June 8am - 10.30am: Lisa & Raquel

The Saturday practice will be lead by Lisa Powell and Raquel Alves. Lisa will begin the morning practice with a luscious slow flow of movement taking you to a place of calm within. When we still the fluctuating patterns of the mind a luminous joy unfolds. The focus will be on freeing the pelvis, hips and legs in a gentle way to dive deeply into the joy within.

Raquel will follow with pranayama and meditation as a way to access and anchor our luminosity. The morning will close with a yoga nidra working with the 61 points of light in the body, rounded off with an AUM Kriya.

Sunday 28 June 8am - 10.30am: Dory & Belle

On Sunday join Dory Walker and Belle Greenwood for a morning exploring practices to release tension in the body and joints and in turn releasing stuck emotions. Enjoy gentle practices to release neck, spine, hip, shoulder, face, throat, mouth and jaw tension. When we release deeply held tensions we can enjoy and be nourished by the benefits of restful sleep. There will also be pranayama, meditation and mantra.

The session will end with a yoga nidra, the deeply restorative systematic guided visualisation and relaxation practice of ‘yoga sleep’. Time to cosy up with blankets, cushions and eye pillows for a delicious end to the workshop.

How it works

Please make a booking for the day retreat though our website. All classes will be live streamed through Zoom. If you don't already have it, download the Zoom app on your computer here: zoom.us/download (choose 'Zoom Client for Meetings') or your phone (in the App Store or Google Play).

Once you have made a booking we will send further details and instructions on how to use Zoom a couple of days beforehand.

Links to access each class will be sent the night before the retreat. You will be able to join each class 10 minutes beforehand on the day.

You will need enough space to roll out your mat and to be able to stretch your arms above your head. If you have yoga props please have them to hand. Here are the things you will need:

  • Yoga mat
  • Blanket or meditation shawl
  • Eye pillow, light scarf for the eyes
  • Firm cushion or yoga block to sit on
  • A yoga belt - or a dressing gown cord works well
  • Yoga bolster or a couple of pillows
  • Notepad and pen

We look forward to connecting with you all and practicing together once again. Thank you for being part of our amazing community.

Client Reviews

And after a day of yoga, connection, breathing, meditation and chanting, last night I had the best, deepest, longest sleep I've had since the lockdown started - so that alone would have made it worthwhile! The whole day was a lovely experience.

I am so grateful that Wendy and her lovely teachers took the time to provide us with such an incredible virtual retreat. The classes were a perfect balance of the best aspects of yoga and I learned so much from your teachers' knowledge and experience. The classes were woven with philosophical and spiritual teachings and practice that left me feeling revitalised and restored in my body and mind. So grateful for this opportunity. What a perfect day - thank you so much YOAS!

I actually felt it was almost one to one, but with the wonderful feeling of everyone being together and able to chat with the class at the beginning gave it a very friendly feel. Thank you for organising the whole day - just brilliant!
