Holiday Expired

The Quaives is a hidden gem surrounded by the peaceful countryside of East Kent, the perfect setting for an exclusive New Year retreat. A real escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet in easy reach with the high speed rail from London to Canterbury West Station, just 15 minutes ride away. A haven in nature awaits.

Set within 19 acres it provides a real sense of retreat with a touch of luxury. There are beautifully manicured secret gardens and tree-lined fields. The Quaives estate has some interesting history too being previously owned by Christine McVie from Fleetwood Mac for 25 years.

The yoga space is a stunning purpose built studio with high ceilings, underfloor heating and abundant natural light.

Spend New Year with a small group in this stunning space. Numbers for this retreat have been limited to allow plenty of space for yoga practice and in all communal areas.

The daily programme

Arrival is on Tuesday 29 December from 3.30 pm. The first class will be at 5pm. This will be a gentle open flow to help you unwind from your journey and ease into the retreat. Afterwards the group will enjoy a delicious dinner before a bedtime meditation and mantra practice.

On Wednesday 30 December there will be two classes - a long, more dynamic morning class to align to body and breath followed by a late afternoon class where we will slow things down and enjoy a deep relaxation. In the afternoon there will be a pop-up mantra choir for those who would like to sing.

On New Year's eve the morning will start with a strong practice then another delicious breakfast. The group will come together again in the afternoon for another practice before dinner and our New Year's eve programme where we will set our intentions for 2021 and spend some time around the bonfire.

The retreat will finish on Friday 1 January at midday after brunch.

Things to do

From The Quaives there are lots of beautiful walks to go on through neighbouring picturesque villages with traditional Kent oast houses and mills. There are plenty of relaxation spots for you to take advantage of in the gardens.

Beneath the pine trees in the far open field there is a Scandinavian wood-fired hot tub to enjoy the vast sky, views of the tree lines and surrounding countryside by day and stargazing at night. Each day after morning yoga there will be the opportunity to walk, relax and set your intentions for the new year.

Accommodation & food

There is a range of accommodation options from double and twin bed cottage rooms to shared dormitories nestled within the grounds. All rooms have a luxury contemporary feel with modern comforts and beautifully designed bathrooms. The cottages have lounge areas offering a haven to relax and rest in. The beautiful Scandinavian style dormitory usually sleeps 8 but we have reduced this to 3 to allow each person to have their own bathroom with modern toilet and shower facilities. Delicious organic, vegetarian food will be served throughout the retreat - delights to nourish body and soul.

Client Reviews

From the moment I arrived, I relaxed. The Quaives is in a gorgeous location and Clare and her family have transformed the lovely outbuildings to a place of serene tranquility.
Kate is a very special person and creates a group dynamic that is so supportive and nurturing from which you feel able to just 'be'. The yoga was fantastic, set at just the right pace and the spiritual element adds hugely to the journey.
A wonderful escape from everyday life. I received a warm welcome and the cottage was lovely; clean, cosy and beautifully decorated. The classes were great; excellent instruction, loads of guidance and new learning. The food was fantastic and there was plenty of it! The gardens and countryside were beautiful. Keep up the good work - this is a gem of a place.
Everything is perfect! The location is easy to access from London, the property is magical with loads of green space to chill during the day and escape the city. The yoga practice was a unique experience and I learnt a lot. The food was another special touch - healthy, delicious and different!
The whole thing was wonderful and far exceeded my expectations. Kate’s yoga sessions were of a very high standard, varied, well thought out and flowed really well. Her chakra meditation was one of the best I’ve done. The kirtan we had on New Years Eve was very special and memorable.
Kate adds a magical dimension to all her teaching.
