About Bamboo Yoga Retreat

Bamboo Retreat is a magical place you want to return to time and again. A hidden gem tucked away on the peaceful and unspoilt beach of Polem in Southern Goa.

Polem is a beautiful secluded beach with a long sweeping crescent of golden sand sheltered by rocky headlands. From the beach you can see a tiny island out to sea and reach other secluded beaches by boat or on foot.

The tranquil retreat is located on the beach close to a small village for the perfect authentic Goan experience and low key nights of music around the beach fire. The more lively areas for a night out are just a short drive away so you can experience all the vibrancy and colourful energy that Goa has to offer.

Retreat programme

Join Jess for a yoga retreat at this very special place with two fully equipped, shaded yoga shalas overlooking the beach with breathtaking views and a sea breeze to keep you cool. An opportunity to dive deeply into your yoga practice in simple surroundings and restore your elemental balance.

Each day will begin with a morning class of meditation and flowing asana to gently open the body and attune the mind to the breath. The afternoon class will be more restorative and often include yin yoga, pranayama, meditation or yoga nidra.

Between classes there will be time to relax on the beach, swim in the sea or take a massage. There will be two yoga-free half days when you can head out and explore or take a boat trip in search of dolphins at sunrise or sunset, included as part of the retreat.

Accommodation & food

Bamboo offers beautiful beach huts and cabanas that blend into the natural surroundings.

The elegant glass-fronted cabanas have beautiful natural views, some with a glimpse of the sea, some in the spacious middle but no seaview, and some at the peaceful far back with a view over fields and hills. Each cabana features a large well furnished bedroom with a roomy open-roofed ensuite bathroom, A/C and ceiling fan, and spacious comfortable balcony with a hammock and seating to relax on.

The charming and comfortable seascape huts are located on the beach front with sea and sunset views, large comfortable bedrooms, modern ensuite bathrooms, A/C and ceiling fans, and balconies with hammocks.

A small number of beachfront huts and beachfront cabanas are available with direct ocean views.

Freshly squeezed juices, tropical fruit and teas will be offered from sunrise. Delicious Goan-inspired vegetarian brunch and dinner using locally sourced ingredients will be offered each day. On the last night there will be a special farewell beach dinner.

What a wonderful time as always. Returning to Bamboo is like coming home. Such a wonderful place made extra special with the fantastic team who run it - nothing is too much trouble. The food is outstanding and plentiful. Jess, as always, was an amazing, warm and fun teacher, sharing her knowledge and tailoring the sessions to suit everyone.

Bamboo with Jess was absolutely idyllic. The retreat is beautifully and peacefully located on the beach and it is a joy to practise yoga facing the ocean to the sound of the waves. The Bamboo staff are very efficient and lots of fun and the accommodation and food are excellent and authentic. Jess is an inspirational yoga teacher, warm and approachable, offering options to all abilities. All in all a very special week!

My week at Bamboo Yoga Retreat was wonderful. Beautiful accommodation in a magical beachside setting with the best of hospitality from the great team there. Jess delivered a full yoga immersion which I really appreciated (and which I paired with the excellent onsite massages). A gifted and generous teacher, Jess created space for us to push ourselves and to enjoy the experience, boosted by a sprinkling of spiritual teaching. A special time for self care. I was lucky too to have some days in Goa beforehand to get the feel for the culture and the history. Special days indeed.
