About Bonhays

Bonhays is a beautiful eco-retreat centre, nestled in the hills of West Dorset, between Bridport and Lyme Regis and just two miles from the sea. The setting is secluded and peaceful, surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Set around a central courtyard with the soft curves of the straw buildings and the hills beyond, there is quiet and stillness here. Bonhays has lovely communal areas to relax and chat in as well as many peaceful and secluded spots for quiet and reflection. There is also an indoor heated swimming pool.

The coast and beaches are just two miles away if you want to get a dose of sea air and enjoy a beach walk or you may simply want to enjoy a peaceful moment on the decking and watch the sunset, swim peacefully in the pool, share wonderful meals in the conservatory, practice yoga and meditation; be and rejuvenate.

The chef at Bonhays, sources organic ingredients locally and produces lovely looking, healthy and very tasty food. All the food is vegetarian.

Retreat programme

There will be a yoga class with Raquel on Friday evening at 5pm and yoga nidra after dinner. On the following days there will be two yoga classes, one in the morning and one in the late afternoon, which will include meditation and breathwork. There will also be plenty of time to walk, rest, relax or take a dip in the pool or even the sea. There will be a yoga class on Monday morning before breakfast and goodbyes.

Accommodation

Single, shared twin or double rooms are available. Bathrooms, shower and toilet facilities are shared.

There is also a charming shepherd's hut set in a quiet corner looking up the Marshwood Valley and a magical little house tucked away in the woods. The hut and the little house both have a double bed, electricity, a wood burner and are fully insulated. The hut has an outside tap and access to shared bathroom facilities closeby. The little house has a mezzanine bed, a small kitchen area and its own outside shower and toilet.

Camping with your own tent or camper van is also an option.

Client Reviews

I had a wonderful weekend! Everything was perfect. My accommodation in the shepherd's hut was cosy and quirky and felt like a complete treat. I was just so happy to be looked after, in a lovely setting and introduced for the first time to the concept of a relaxing yoga break.
Harriet
The yoga weekend was lovely. Raquel's yoga was uplifting with plenty of adaptations to different levels within the group. The yoga nidra sessions were very relaxing and it was a lovely idea to do some yoga outside first thing in the morning so we could do some more chanting and breathing exercises.
Emma
Such a fabulous few days away in the heart of the Dorset countryside at the fantastic Bonhays Retreat with the fabulous, knowledgeable, funny, intelligent teacher, Raquel. She has the best way for weaving Yogic philosophy, history with Breathwork and Asanas. We all feel lighter and wiser after an immersive 4 days with her. From Yoga asanas to Mantras, Mudras, and meditation - we were richly spoiled by Raquel. I look forward a to joining her again. Bonhays was the idyllic setting too. Thanks YOAS for this delight.
