About Finca el Moro

Finca el Moro is a charming family run farm, hidden away in a peaceful valley in Southern Spain. The farmhouse and 3 traditional stone cottages are set in 70 acres of land with sweet chestnut, cork trees and olive groves.

Each cottage has a swimming pool and pretty terraces that overlook the hay meadows and glades of ancient cork trees. Idyllic spots for watching the sun go down over the rolling hills, listening to the bird song and star gazing.

The Finca is also home to Andalusian horses and guests can take day rides, a wonderful way to explore the region.

Retreat programme

Built on the centuries old threshing circle, Finca el Moro's fully equipped shala is breathtaking. Nestled amongst the trees, it offers panoramic views and constant birdsong.

Lara will offer a Scaravelli inspired retreat with classes each morning and evening in this magical space. The classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience.

Each day will begin with a morning class of meditation, pranayama, somatic movements, chanting and asana. The afternoon class will be a more restorative class to delve deeper into the postures. Between yoga classes there will be the chance to explore the surroundings or simply relax.

Things to do

The peaceful location lends itself perfectly to a week of rest and rejuvenation. There will be time set aside each day, between yoga classes, to simply relax by the pool or take a massage with a local therapist.

You can also head out for long walks to take in the stunning beauty of the countryside or get a feel for local life in the traditional village of Los Marines, a 45 minute walk away. A day ride on the Finca's very own Andalusian horses is also a magical way to explore.

Accommodation & food

Finca el Moro offers comfortable and charming accommodation in three traditional stone cottages each with their own kitchen, living area, swimming pool and terraces.

There are double, twin and triple rooms and a very limited number of single occupancy rooms. All have en-suite bathrooms.

Throughout the day you will be offered a delicious vegetarian brunch after morning yoga and dinner each evening. The meals are prepared using the Finca's own organic produce as well as locally sourced ingredients.

Tea and coffee making facilities are included in each cottage and the Finca's farm shop is stocked with snacks if you are looking for something between meals.

Client Reviews

The retreat at Finca El Moro exceeded all my expectations! Lara is an exceptionally inspiring teacher and she gave so much of herself. She led us through a whole process which gradually unfolded our bodies and helped our energy to smooth out and flow more freely. I was astonished at how different (better!) I felt. And she gave of herself so generously and in a very uncontrived way. She has such a deep experience of this work, her corrections are spot-on and I loved the poems, breath work and chanting too. Finca El Moro and Daisy and her family also far exceeded my expectations. It’s a beautiful valley which has benefited from so much loving care and hard work. It’s an elemental place with a huge sense of space. And the food is wonderful- all home grown and creatively put together. We all felt very fortunate to be part of this retreat. Thanks to Lara, Daisy and family, the horses, Violetta the donkey, the dogs, cat and of course the 9 of us!

I had such a wonderful week - Lara was an incredible teacher. I loved my introduction to Scaravelli yoga and her enthusiastic, energetic approach. The classes were long but restorative and holding poses for longer enabled us to release from deep in the fascia...I felt an opening in my hips and shoulders and an awakening of my spine, which was wonderful - even my feet are much more spread and dynamic! The focus on pranayama and meditation was also excellent, as they often get forgotten for the asana and are such a crucial part of the practice.

This was truly the best yoga retreat I have EVER been on. Lara's yoga is so inspiring, nurturing and restorative it created a unique spirit amongst the group and we were all challenged and supported to develop in a way we never had before (both on and off the mat). All in all simply couldn't have been a more amazing week.
